It is common in the study of the climate system and of geophysical fluids such at the atmosphere and oceans to come up with different theoretical explanations for the same observed phenomena. The problem is that these various theories are in general incompatible with each other. Reaching to a physical truth therefore requires a deeper and more critical level of inquiry that usually involves challenging established dogma and preconceptions.
